How did you arrive at this business? What path brought you here?
I have always loved real estate, finance, and problem solving. It was like this career was created just for me.

Describe the mortgage that you’re most proud of closing.
A short time after I began as a loan officer I had the opportunity to work with a young family who had just been turned down for a loan at a credit union. I took a look at their situation and found a way to make it work. When the loan closed and the couple moved in I received a call from the husband thanking me for what I was able to do for them, and while on the phone with me he broke down crying that he had finally been able to provide a home for his family. I never expected something like that to happen when I entered this career, and it goes to show that we never know the impact we can make in people’s lives.

What are you most passionate about professionally? What most excites you about your work and the contribution you can make?
I enjoy teaching others about achieving financial freedom, and how homeownership can make a big difference in their life financially. I tell the story of how I paid a 9% interest rate for my first home and it was one of the best investments I ever made.

Any awards or medals, or even medallions?
I grew up fairly conservative, and dancing was something I was never able to do. About four years ago I finally decided I wanted to learn, so I took up ballroom and started taking lessons. I enjoyed it more than I ever expected and ended up entering a dancing competition. The song I chose to use was by Usher, and the dance moves were really difficult for my level. My instructor and I worked on it for several weeks over and over and over again, and I could never get through it fully without messing up somewhere. Finally, when the time came to perform it at the competition I absolutely nailed it and it was the first time I got through the whole thing without messing up. I was so elated it was like I had won the lottery, and I ended up winning the Top Male Solo award. I will never forget that experience.

If you were a super hero, who would you be? Why?
This is a tough one, but I’d have to say Iron Man. I mean… the suit is awesome, his mansion is breathtaking, he has (and creates) endless toys and gadgets. Not to mention he’s a billionaire (and patriot) who somehow manages to try and do the right thing. Plus, he does it all without a cape…
